Tutoring + Executive Function Coaching in Sarasota
I taught in Sarasota and Manatee County classrooms for about fifteen years. I now work with a small number of students each year on the subject in front of them and the habits underneath it.
How I work
The subject matters. So does how a student approaches it.
Most of the students I work with do not only need another explanation. They need a way to start, a way to keep track, and a way to check their own work.
Executive function coaching
Organization, task planning, breaking work into steps, keeping a planner that is actually used, studying before a test rather than the night before, and knowing when to ask for help.
Different kinds of learners
My background includes a Reading Endorsement and ESE experience, along with curriculum development. I have taught students who read below grade level, students who need more processing time, and students who understand the math but lose the work.

Sessions
Tutoring is booked as a package of ten sessions for $1,250. Each session runs approximately an hour and a half, and the package should be used within one year of payment.
Where we meet
In person in Sarasota. Sessions are held at the Gulf Gate Library.
How many students
I take on roughly ten students a year. That keeps the work personal and lets me stay in real contact with parents about what is improving and what is not.
A student who can organize the work can usually learn the subject.

What grade levels do you tutor?
I am open to all subjects and a range of grade levels. My strongest and most frequent work is upper-elementary, and I do my best work with fifth graders.
Is fifth grade math your primary focus?
It is my sweet spot. Fifth grade math is where fractions, decimals, and multi-step reasoning come together, and it is a year where a student either builds confidence or starts avoiding math.
Do you help with executive functioning and organization?
Yes. For many students that is the real work: planning tasks, keeping materials in order, building study routines, and learning how to start an assignment without stalling.
Do you work with students who need different learning supports?
Yes. I hold a Reading Endorsement and have ESE experience from my classroom years, and I have worked with students who need different pacing, different explanations, or reading support alongside the subject.
How many tutoring students do you work with each year?
About ten. I keep the number small on purpose so each student gets real attention.
